LOCATION

Our site is a 40-acre mountain forest near Parson, BC, that boasts a diverse natural ecosystem with fields, ponds, a spring, creek, forest, hillside, and wetlands. We are fortunate to have no zoning restrictions, which means unlimited density, building types, and uses are possible. This parcel of land has three existing dwellings that will provide long term rentals. Our location provides the perfect canvas to create a sustainable and self-sufficient community that prioritizes preserving the land, ecosystem, and natural habitats while leveraging permaculture and regenerative practices.

Parson’s closest town, Golden, is a booming tourism destination that attracts visitors year-round. During the winter months, the town’s ski hill is a major attraction, drawing skiers and snowboarders from across the region. In the summer, Golden is a hub for outdoor activities such as mountain biking, rafting, paragliding, and climbing. With its close proximity to Alberta, it has become a popular vacation destination for both locals and tourists alike. The town’s popularity is expected to continue to grow, providing opportunities for local businesses to thrive and expand their offerings.

The Farm

Since Fall 2020, Kapristo Farms has made impressive progress in developing a sustainable and regenerative farming system. The farm built a 100-foot all-season greenhouse, which features a geothermic earth battery and cleared a field to build thirty-two 100-foot beds. They began selling produce in the summer of 2021 and started their first CSA program after building a self-serve roadside stand in Spring 2022. Additionally, we have expanded our animal husbandry practices at Kapristo Farms. We continue to grow our rabbitry, ducks, chickens, and other animals to help fertilize the garden and as another source of fresh, locally-raised protein for our community. Kapristo Farms is committed to implementing innovative solutions for sustainable agriculture, and this progress is just the beginning of their mission to create a more resilient food system for their community.

WHY WE ARE UNIQUE

At Kapristo Farms, we are not just another farm, we are unique in many ways. Our main goal is to create a self-sufficient community that prioritizes food security using a closed-loop system. To achieve this, we go the extra mile to deliver our CSA shares to our customers’ doorstep via horse and cart, reducing our carbon footprint and providing a unique experience. Our packaging is upcycled, reusable, and environmentally conscious, making us the only farm in the area to offer such an option.

But that’s not all. We are now looking to expand our offerings by providing an off-grid glamping experience for individuals who want to disconnect from technology and reconnect with nature. Our glamping experience will provide guests with farm-to-table food, made with fresh produce grown right here on the farm. By combining sustainable practices with unique experiences, we are setting ourselves apart from other farms and creating a truly unforgettable experience for our customers.
